There are 5 elderly cats at Whinnybank just now, and Sue is waiting for 4 more to come in. Only a very few rescues in Fife are accepting elderly cats at the moment. It is a shame as all these cats want is a few more years of love. We are pleased to say that Whinnybank has homed at least 7 elderly cats so far this year but more homes are needed. The biggest expense for an elderly cat is usually its teeth – Whinnybank can cover the cost of this treatment if needed (only through our Newburgh vet). If the cat is on a special diet we can help with this too. The elderly cats cannot stay in the unheated small pens for the winter so Sue plans to have some larger heated pens for them – this will obviously take time & money – but it would be better for them to have the comforts of a home environment. Details & photos of the elderly cats needing homes will be on our website soon. Buffalo Bill, a long term resident in his 22nd year is having his last 4 teeth out & a coat de-mat this coming week. Sue is worried for him but she knows it is the right thing to do.
