Whinnybank News

Since our previous news everyone has suffered with the very cold weather! It got so cold so quickly that we could not take in any domestic cats, only street cats. The feral cats who live permanently at Whinnybank loved skating on our frozen duck pond, especially Polo, who was chasing ping pong balls on the ice!  We had to bring the cat food sachets into the house so they didn’t freeze at night but then, if the cats didn’t eat it quick enough, it froze in the bowls during the day! So, they ate more biscuits but this meant they needed to drink more water but that was freezing too so Sue came up with the idea of putting microwave heat pads under all the water bowls to stop them freezing – good thinking Sue! Last year was a very tiring year and it was very sad closing our Auchtermuchty shop after Christmas. We had a very good year homing cats and kittens, Sue estimates that we homed 200 kittens alone! She was just wondering if 2025 would be quieter but already a mum and 2 kittens came in on 2nd January, and 6 more kittens on the 6th of January. A warm welcome from all at Whinnybank to our 2 new fosterers, Lindsey and Heather. We could still do with more but they need to be able to travel to our vet in Newburgh. Many thanks for all recent donations of bedding and cat food.
