Whinnybank News
We are pleased to report that we have found super new homes for 6 elderly cats in the past month. Sue thanks Kitten Linda for all her work with kittens and mums this year – it is a very long time since we had so many come in! We can only take in emergencies just now as there are so many mums and kittens in our care. Linda is definitely looking forward to a break – she has had no free time to make catnip mice but she hopes to be able to get out her sewing machine soon.
Sue is asking that before people take on cats or other pets they need to be aware of the costs involved – not just of feeding, worming and de-fleaing them but also vet costs of neutering, microchipping (now law) and costs for any health issues that may arise during their lifetime. Many people do not realise that a female cat can fall pregnant at only 5 months old! Don’t even get Sue on the topic of the huge costs of weekend emergencies due to the companies that many vets outsource emergency cover to these days. Vets work so hard and definitely need a break! However, Sue has experienced calls from people who have waited until Monday to take their pet to a vet as they could not afford the weekend charges only to find that it was sadly too late to save their beloved pets.
Lots of people have been handing apples in to our shops – we are very grateful as there is an apple shortage this year. Does anyone have a spare room that is dry and warm to put the best of our lovely dresses in as we will have nowhere to store them when we close our Auchtermuchty shop after Christmas this year (more on that in our next news)
