Whinnybank News
It has come to light that people are concerned that Whinnybank, like other rescues, will be unable to survive the current financial hard times. Sue would like to reassure everyone that Whinnybank will definitely be around for the rest of her lifetime, and hopefully beyond. We are well supported with food donations, though we do put out an SOS when we are desperate. We are also well supported in our shops in Newburgh and Auchtermuchty, and at our outdoor table sales in Dundee and St Andrews – which helps to cover our vet bills. Sue is having some ‘crazy’ phone calls from people saying they have a chance of going on holiday but can’t afford the boarding fees for their cats so can Sue re-home them! Another common one is from people whose landlords have discovered they have cats so can she find new homes for them. Sue thinks these calls must be about cats people got during lock-down and it is really sad that they now need new homes. Sue is inundated with calls so she is having to pick out the most urgent – homeless cats, cats going feral and those whose owners have sadly died. Linda is in need of Christmas material to make catnip mice, and narrow ribbons to make catnip fish – the mice and fish will be sold to raise funds for the cats.
If you can offer a home to a cat, help at fundraising events, in our shops or at the sanctuary, please call Sue on 01337 840414, or see us online at www.catchat.org/whinnybank and www.whinnybank.org.uk
