Whinnybank News
This week Sue feels that she needs to make her views clear on collars and harnesses on cats (they are obviously ok on dogs). Many new collars get handed in but they get binned. A bell on a collar may help to save some wild birds etc, but would you like a bell round your neck 24/7 if your ears were as sensitive as a cats? People are still handing in cats with collars that aren’t even safety collars and Sue has to cut them off with scissors. Non-safety collars and harnesses can result in disasters – Sue has seen some dreadful injuries caused by these! New owners of cats homed by us are given good advice for what to do when letting their new pet out for the first time. Every cat from Whinnybank is micro-chipped and that is the way forward. Sue is at the end of the phone if you have any concerns. Not enough advice is given when you rehome a cat or move house – the older the cat, the longer you need to keep it in, at least one week for every year of it’s age.Thank you for all the donations of food and money. To the person who sent some cash through the post, thank you, it arrived safely.
